I haven't posted about my own hair since my henna haul so I just wanted to update you guys on what I'm doing with it.

Honestly, I haven't done much at all but henna a couple times a month, co-wash and throw it in a bun. Just as most of you ladies, Winter pisses my hair off so bunning is a great option for me. Since the hair tends to be drier and more prone to split ends and breakage, its best to not to manipulate the hair as much as possible. I definitely think, its best to have some kind of winter protective style in your arsenal that you can pull out when you need to. In my case, the bun was the easiest and quickest.

I don't do anything special as far as my technique. My bun is actually not even a bun at all. I simply put my hair in a ponytail while still damp, then pull my hair through like I'm securing a ponytail again but I stop about 2 or 3 inches before all the hair is through. This makes a loop with my curly ends at the top or bottom. I haven't taken any pics of it but I will soon so you guys can see what I'm talking about. This messy chignon or bun has been my hair-saving protective style for my thirsty locks.

What has been your go to style this winter??

Lately, I have been noticing that kinks, curls, and coils have been popping up all over. It seems that natural hair is slowly replacing long silky weaves on the runway, television and even in the real world.

When you turn on the t.v. you see curly divas shaking it in the hottest videos from Ludacris' "How Low" to Trey Songz "Invented Sex/Say Ahh" (I'm not yet sure its a good thing..lol) and then in the commercials for huge, respected brands and on great shows. A few years ago natural hair was rare in the media so I'm absolutely loving the renewed interest in natural beauty. I'm sure this new trend was helped along by Tyra's natural reveal last year and the amazing inspiration of our First Lady's flawless unaltered coif. As a matter of fact, yesterday's Wendy Williams show mentioned an article in a Hip Hop Weekly about Mrs.Obama's massive influence for ladies to go natural.

I see kinky hair more often than I used to when I'm out and about and I always give those ladies a special smile or compliment. Fashion is also embracing the unique look of afro hair as showed in the pic to the left from Berlin'sMercedes-Benz Fashion Week earlier this month. Hopefully even more ladies will kick the creamy crack when they notice that curls and kinks can be couture, sexy and trendsetting.

For now, rejoice my au naturale dolls! Eventually, we will takeover the WORLLDD!!!! LOL..Just kidding. But I would love to see us more often doing stuff other than shakin our fatties for musicians. Speaking off that, check out Usher's latest music video "Hey Daddy/Daddy's Home" down below.
