Urban Decay - Alice in Wonderland Book of Shadows

By JadoreBrittanie · January 29, 2010 · 0 Comments ·

Urban Decay recently released this uber cute palette, inspired by Disney's upcoming move Alice in Wonderland. I've had my eye on it since I first heard they were going to do this. The next time I do a big haul, this will be the first thing I throw onto the counter. I think its just adorable and unique. Gotta have it!

Urban Decay Disney Alice In Wonderland Palette

$52.00 by Urban Decay at Sephora

What it is: Tim Burton, Urban Decay, and Alice in Wonderland?! Together, the result is a breathtaking Book of Shadows worthy of collector status. What it does: When Disney called to ask if Urban Decay would design a product for the launch of Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, they were like, "Um….yes!" The result is this truly amazing (and seriously collectible) Book of Shadows. Tucked inside a hidden drawer are 16 best-selling Eyeshadows, given topsy-turvy names like White Rabbit, Jabberwocky, and Oraculum. Alongside them lie travel sizes of Eyeshadow Primer Potion and two 24/7 Eye Pencils. From smoky neutral eyes to flashes of hallucinogenic green and purple, the looks you can create are as endless as the rabbit hole itself. The top opens to reveal a pop-up scene of Alice in the mushroom forest. Her "drink me" bottle discarded, she staggers past towering mushrooms, only to cross paths with a very peculiar, hookah-smoking caterpillar. A large mirror rests behind the scene, making you feel as if you are transported into the film itself. Anyone who loves Urban Decay, Tim Burton, Disney, or Alice in Wonderland absolutely MUST have this palette. Even the Mad Hatter would say this Book of Shadows delivers it all.

This set contains: (16) Eyeshadows:

  • Underland (Flash)
  • Alice (Painkiller)
  • Oraculum (Baked)
  • Queen (Last Call)
  • Chessur (Chopper)
  • White Rabbit (Polyester Bride)
  • Wonderland (Maui Wowie)
  • Curiouser (Grifter)
  • Muchness (X)
  • Mushroom (Mushroom)
  • Midnight Tea Party (Midnight Cowboy Rides Again)
  • Vorpal (S&M)
  • Absolem (Homegrown)
  • Drink Me Eat Me (Sin)
  • Mad Hatter (Twice Baked)
  • Jabberwocky (Oil Slick)
  • Travel-size 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero and Flipside
  • Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Sin

What it is formulated WITHOUT:

  • Sulfates

What do you guys think? Corny or Fab??!

MAC Spring 2010 Colour Forecast Collection

Preview of MAC's Spring Color Collection that will be hitting the stores on Feb. 11. I can honestly say, I'm in love with pretty much the entire collection. The color palette is perfectly in keeping with this years beauty trends: Nudes, Barbie Pinks(I'm sure the Nicki Minaj stans will love that), beautiful Corals and few darker almost-vampiric Lip Shades.

My faves are the nude nail and lip colors, the dark purple lip colors and ALL of the shadows. This collection can be mixed and matched to create a lot of gorgeous looks for instance a nude lip with a bold purple or pink eyeshadow or a nude shadow and bold lip. I can't wait  to play with the colors. I'm not really feeling the orange or purple blushes but they would do great on the runway or for a artistic look.

Check out the pics of the collection and leave your opinions.

Red Carpet FAIL: Taraji Looked Amazing Except for.....

By JadoreBrittanie · January 7, 2010 · 4 Comments ·

..Those DREADFULLY large bags under her eyes. Her gown and hair were ultra fab but I those eyes had me humming "Bag Lady". I love me some Taraji P. Henson. Her acting is phenomenal and ,like many of you, I've been ridin' with her since Baby Boy. But it looks like Jody got his hands on her again but got her in both her eyes this time. Her eyes age her and take away from the rest of her flawless face. The Bag Lady syndrome is easily preventable (thats why its always a FAIL).

Lots of ladies have the same problem. The puffiness is fluid build up under the eyes that can come from the smallest things like eating overly salty foods, using anti-wrinkle creams under eyes too often, excess water or simply aging . Most celebs choose the needle as a cure but I have some tips and techniques that are way less painful, less expensive and more simple.

  • Refrigerate used teabags or soak teabags in chilled/ice water. Squeeze excess water from the bags and put them on your eyes. Leave them on your eyes for 15-10 minutes. The cold and caffiene help to shrink the baggage.
  • Splash cold water on your face after washing.
  • Apply a bag of cold peas or refridgerated, sliced cucumber over the eyes for 15  minutes.
  • Pop two spoons in the freezer then put the cold back of the spoon on your puffy areas.
  • Avoid drinking water right before bed or in the middle of the night.
  • Don't tug on your lower lid when applying eyeliner or other make-up.
  • Apply concealer that matches your skin as close as possible or a slighty darker one to make the area less noticeable.
  • GET YOUR BEAUTY SLEEP...lack of sleep is the most common reason for baggies.
  • Hemerroid ointment is a classic way to get rid of puffiness but the U.S. no longer makes it with the miracle ingredient that wisked away the baggies. Luckily, my girls in Canada and the UK can still utilize this old remedy though.

These tips should gradually get rid of or prevent this beauty offense. I never seem to get a full nights sleep so I'm constantly sitting around looking crazy as hell with some green tea bags on my eyes. lol Hopefully, someone forwards this post to my girl, Taraji or her make-up artist.

If any of you other ladies have had this problem, post your remedies or your questions. Toodles babes!!

Budget Glam - Get Fab for Less Than $20

On a regular basis, I will be spotlighting a few good buys or noteworthy deals on products that all of you ladies should have in your beauty arsenal or at least try out. Quality, effective products don’t have to carry a high price tag. A large portion of the make-up, skin care and hair products in a true beauty connisseur's stash will be products that cost less than $20 (unless they are a certified label whore). If you yourself are guilty of label whoredom, get it in check and go apologize to your wallet. For a long time, I was the same way. I wouldn’t buy anything that I felt was “cheap” because I thought that the higher the price tag, the better the product. I had 'a fellow make-up artist let me use some of her cheaper products and I fell in love. My spouse is super happy that I have found ways to keep up my highly contagious product junkie habits without going bankrupt.

This Week's Spotlight Deals:

CVS: Buy One Get One Free on All Revlon Eye products!!

Publix: All Relaxed and Natural Products on Sale for $2.79!!

Also lowered prices on the entire Relaxed and Natural Line, Garnier Fructis, Herbal Essences, Nexxus, Organix just to name a few.  I was actually pretty shocked to see that the prices on a lot of their beauty and hair products were lower than Walmart.

For $20 This Week’s Deals Could Get You:

R&N Deep Conditioning Mask (a new fave, Thanks Curly Nikki) - Under $3

Revlon Color Stay Brow Enhancer (MY FAVE) - BOGO

Revlon Color Stay 12 Hour Eye Shadow - BOGO

Organix Coconut Milk Conditioner (smells amazing, my hair loves it)- under $5

Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine Conditioner – Under $2

Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Replenishing Pack - Under  $2

Also here are some of my favorite places to go bargain hunting:

TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Ross (They have amazing deals in higher end or salon quality hair and skin care products at a fraction of the cost. They are normally either from last season, were overstock, or have been replaced by the same product in new packaging or a new formula. The other day I got a CHI combo set with a Mini Flat Iron, and 4 of their most popular hair products for $13.99 at TJM. You cant beat that.)

Drugstores like CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid (Drugstores have deals all the time on cosmetics. You are almost guaranteed to find a BOGO or some other huge promo on decent brands like Revlon, Covergirl, Iman, L’Oreal, and more.)

Department Stores like: Sephora, Ulta

I hope this helped some of you that mentioned to me that you couldn't afford to wear make-up or to go natural. As you see, glamour can be affordable.

Have you guys seen any other deals worth mentioning?? If so post them as a comment.

Thanks you guys and if you like what you see, please spread the word. This blog is only a few days old so show me as much comment love as possible. SMOOCHES!!
