My Regimen

I got a few emails asking about my regimen. What I do works for MY hair so I don't recommend doing exactly what I do but use my regimen as a template or starting point to help find what products and routines work for you. Right now my routine is pretty simple.

Hair

Washing and Conditioning Routine

For my hair, I co-wash every 2-3 days with Herbal Essence Hello Hydration, Organix Coconut Milk or Nature's Gate Henna Shine Enhancing Conditioner..

I deep condition ,at least once a week, with a mixture of Honey, Olive oil and Relaxed and Natural Deep Treatment Mask or Palmer's Coconut Deep Conditioning Pack. I saran wrap my treatment to lock in my head's natural heat as well as moisture and do stuff around the house. I leave it on for a minimun of 2 hours.

If I must cleanse my hair, I pre-treat or "pre-poo" my hair with Honey, Coconut Oil or Hot Six Oil and let it penetrate for a few hours then use the Hello Hydration 2-n-1 Shampoo or an Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) Rinse to get rid of buildup or to prepare my hair for Henna.

My Staples and Go-Tos

A new staple has been added to my hair routine.... HENNA! I love love love it!

I mix two boxes of Jamila Body Art Quality (BAQ) Henna with half a box of Amla powder with a few cups of green tea, a few squirts or lemon and honey. I plan on doing the treatment atleast twice a month with henna glosses in between. My hair is the best it has ever been since I incorporated henna into my life.

My other staple products are:

  • Hello Hydration conditioner mixed with Water, Oilve Oil, Honey and Glycerin.
  • Mango Butter and Shea Butter (to seal in moisture)
  • Amla treatments (Amla and conditioner left on for hours) keeps my curls POPPING
  • Cantu Shea Butter Flat iron Spray
  • Tea Tree Oil as a scalp treatment
  • Relaxed and Natural Deep Treatment mask
  • The whole Chi family of products for my sleek styles
  • Olive oil and African Royale Hot Six Oil

(I'm sure I'm leaving off somethings I use but these are the most frequent ones.)

Styles

I adore wash and go's but since I began hennaing, my hair has lost some curls at my nape and in the front. My hair already had looser waves in the front from flat ironing but now it is almost bone straight in some places so I had to revamp my wash and go.

Now for my wash and go style, I use Garnier Sleek-n-Shine or Organix Coconut Milk mixed with honey throughout my hair.  I put in 6 two-strand twists in the front where the hair is now wavy of straight. After I finish a twist, I bantu knot it to keep it out of my way as wel as give it a curl at the end when I unravel it in the morning. I then put 2 more two-strand twists at my nape. I pull the middle section up into a loose bun. Put my satin bonnet on and in the morning I just take down the twists and fluff to blend it in with my natural curls.

At night, I just put in a few twists in the front (if I feel like it) do a loose bun with the rest and in the morning all I have to do is fluff and maybe scrunch with a little bit of water.

Skin

My skin care regimin is simple too...

I wet my face and then wash it with Ambi Black Soup with Shea Butter in it or I do a gentle scrub with Sugar, Honey, Amla, and Tea Tree oil.

My skin LOVES it.

I then use Witch Hazel as a toner or astringent to shrink my pores and make my makeup look more flawless. Then, I add a dab of Tea Tree Oil to any pimples I may have or see coming and seal in the moisture with super thin layer of pure Shea Butter. Thats it!

Do you have a set regimen you follow? What are your staple styles and products?
